Dolly Parton does not want a statue of herself: ‘not appropriate’
In a letter, Dolly Parton asked lawmakers in her hometown of Tennessee not to put up a statue of her. That plan is in place, but Parton thinks the timing is inappropriate due to the corona virus.
“I feel honored and humbled by the idea, but I asked them to stop that plan anyway,” Parton said on Twitter. “Given everything that’s going on in the world now, I don’t think it’s appropriate to put up a statue of me now.”
Parton says that in the future, if any, she will of course receive the statue with love. As far as she is concerned, this is also possible after her death. “In the meantime, I will continue to do my best to make the state proud.”
